Facelift
Sun exposure, weight fluctuation, and the natural aging process can make skin loosen and sag, resulting in wrinkles and jowls. The neck muscles can also loosen, causing people to look years older than they really are. Facelift surgery is designed to eliminate face and neck wrinkles simultaneously, thereby rejuvenating the skin and restoring a youthful appearance. The Facelift Procedure
Depending on the complexity of your facelift surgery, the length of the procedure may vary but is usually several hours. Typically facelift surgery is an outpatient surgery, but a short inpatient stay may be required for some patients.
During your facelift consultation, Dr. Kalus may recommend additional facial plastic surgery or skin treatments. Microdermabrasion is an excellent complements to facelift surgery and can help refine the skin's texture. For younger patients who are not yet ready for facelift surgery, Dr. Kalus may recommend BOTOX® treatments at his South Carolina surgery center.

Nose Surgery (Rhinoplasty)
A person who is unhappy with the shape or size of his or her nose may have wanted to change it for a long time. The rhinoplasty procedure offered at our Columbia practice can help turn those dreams into a reality. Rhinoplasty, commonly referred to as nose surgery, can make a nose larger or smaller and can adjust the shape of the bridge, tip, or nostrils. The Rhinoplasty Procedure
The average length of rhinoplasty surgery is one to two hours. To maximize the results of the surgery, rhinoplasty is sometimes performed in conjunction with other procedures, including cheek implants or chin implants. Combining the procedures will increase the time in surgery.

Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty)
Droopy, puffy eyes and eyelids give the appearance of fatigue and advanced age. To help combat this age accelerator, we offer blepharoplasty to our South Carolina patients. Blepharoplasty, commonly referred to as eyelid surgery, improves the appearance of aging eyes and drooping lids. The Blepharoplasty Procedure
At the start of the blepharoplasty procedure, an incision is made along the eyelid. Dr. Ram Kalus then removes fat and any excess skin or muscle from the eyelid. Eyelid surgery usually takes less than three hours at a Columbia surgical center and is an outpatient procedure. The results are long-lasting, but are still susceptible to the natural effects of aging.
Some patients who are interested in reducing the appearance of fine wrinkles and lines around the eyes may be better suited for BOTOX® injections rather than eyelid surgery. Chin Surgery
Modern surgery can improve facial balance by changing the size and/or shape of the chin. A large, protruding chin can be reduced, and a small chin can be enhanced through augmentation. Chin augmentation is also an excellent complement to nose surgery. For most patients, chin surgery and rhinoplasty can be performed simultaneously at one of our Columbia surgical centers.
Chin Reduction
When the chin is too large, a small incision is made inside the mouth, and the size of the chin bone is reduced using precise surgical instruments. After surgery, the chin is taped for protection and safe healing. Also, the patient will need to limit his or her diet to soft food for a few days following surgery. Lip numbness, swelling, and minor discoloration are possible side effects, but will gradually subside during the healing process.
Chin Enlargement
Chin surgery to address insufficient chin protrusion is performed by either inserting a chin implant or actually moving a portion of the chin forward. If an implant will best enhance an appearance, it is inserted through an incision made below the chin or inside the mouth. For some, however, a genioplasty may prove more effective. During this procedure, the tip of the chin is moved forward and held in place with wires.
