An adequately projecting chin is extremely important in the attractive male face to imply confidence and control. If the relationship of the teeth is proper, a chin augmentation can be performed either through a small incision inside the mouth with no resulting external visible scar, or a small incision under the chin externally, especially if combined with a neck lift procedure. Implant material s vary but most commonly are made of either porous polyethylene (“Medpor”), a synthetic bone-like material, or a firm silicone material which is slightly softer.
