Selecting the Right Implants for Breast Augmentation

selecting the right breast implant size, Charelston SCSelecting the right implants for breast augmentation is dependent on a variety of factors unique to every individual. To begin the selection process, I first listen to my patients’ aesthetic goals and try to gain a clear understanding of the outcome they are hoping to achieve. It is critical at this point to have what I refer to as a “visual conversation”. We can talk all day long about terms such as “full C”, “small D”, or “not too big, yet not too small”, but these are subjective terms that will mean different things to different people – one person’s idea of big may be very different from the next person’s.

For this reason, I insist that my patients show me pictures of people/patients who have results similar to what they are envisioning for themselves. Any examples are acceptable, but the advantage of using our unique online resource – WhatSizeShouldiBe.com – is that patients have access to all of the necessary details when viewing photos on the gallery, including height, weight, pre- and post-op bra size, as well as implant type, size, and position.

Once we have a cup size or visual conception of their desired results, we will proceed with a careful examination to determine skin quality, breast and chest measurements, nipple position, and degree of skin looseness or sagging (“ptosis”). Taking all these considerations into account, we then turn to our various breast implant options and make a list of possible implant sizes, shapes and projections that would fit comfortably into their breast pocket while effectively achieving their goals.

Ultimately, by taking this meticulous approach to choosing the right breast implants, I have found my patients to have considerably high rates of satisfaction with their final selection.
