South Carolina – Breast Augmentation, Breast Reduction, Breast Lift, and More

Dr. Ram Kalus performs a variety of breast surgeries at his South Carolina practice, including breast augmentation, breast reduction, and breast lift (with or without breast implants). Dr. Kalus will work with you on a personal basis to decide which procedure is right for you. Personalized treatment is especially important today because many women are being over-augmented. Dr. Kalus believes this is affecting the overall esthetic of what breasts should look like. If you can tell that someone has had breast implants, the doctor was not successful. Dr. Kalus strives to achieve extraordinarily natural-looking results using state-of-the-art technology.

If you are interested in breast surgery, including breast lift or breast augmentation with implants, contact Plastic Surgery of the Carolinas – serving Columbia, Charleston, and locations throughout North and South Carolina.

Breast Augmentation

Properly proportioned, well-formed breasts can instill a sense of confidence in any woman. At our plastic surgery center in South Carolina, we offer breast augmentation to give women the opportunity to feel more attractive. We believe every woman deserves to feel beautiful and to love her body. With breast implants, our patients in Columbia and across South Carolina get to experience that sensation of beauty.

Breast Lift – Mastopexy

In addition to breast augmentation, we also offer breast lift surgery at our Columbia plastic surgery center.

As you age, the skin surrounding your breasts may lose some of its elasticity and cause a sagging appearance. This phenomenon is common in women who have given birth and breast-fed their infants. A simple breast lift, also known a mastopexy, can restore your body’s youthful state, by tightening a sagging bust line. During the breast lift procedure, excess skin and tissue are trimmed away as the bust line is made taut and lifted. The breasts’ remaining skin and nipples are repositioned to create a natural look.

Breast Reduction Surgery – Reduction Mammaplasty

Oversized breasts force women to carry excess weight that may cause medical issues including neck and back pain, soreness from bra straps cutting into their shoulders, and general discomfort. Women with large breasts may feel insecure and awkward. Plastic Surgery of the Carolinas helps women in North and South Carolina by offering breast reduction surgery. Breast reduction, or reduction mammaplasty, can also be characterized as a reconstructive cosmetic surgery procedure. The procedure reduces the size of the breasts so that they are more proportional to the rest of a woman’s body.

Breast Reconstruction

With the spread and increased detection of breast cancer throughout the United States, many women save their own lives by losing a part of themselves. During a mastectomy, the breast is removed to stop the spread of cancer. Women seek breast reconstruction surgery to restore the natural curves of a breast lost during a mastectomy. Breast reconstruction is also performed on patients who suffer from breast deformities. The procedure improves a patient’s quality of life by heightening self-esteem and confidence.

Breast Reconstruction Techniques

Breast reconstruction surgery is usually performed in stages and can span across a period of six months. The first procedure, which is usually performed at the time of the mastectomy, is the longest and most complex. Most subsequent breast reconstruction surgeries involve minimal pain and recovery.

There are two categories of reconstruction: implant-based reconstruction and reconstruction using the patient's own tissue. There are many factors and variables to consider in deciding whether to use one's own tissue to reconstruct breasts or utilize breast implants. At our office in Columbia, Dr. Ram Kalus formulates individualized treatment plans for each of his patients. To discuss a breast reconstruction strategy, please contact Plastic Surgery of the Carolinas today.

Male Breast Surgery - Gynecomastia

Dr. Kalus feels that the male breast correction needs to ideally have invisible scars since the male chest is intended to be exposed, unlike that of the typical female patient. Therefore the scars should, always try to remain around the areola exclusively, and not extend into the remainder of the breast or chest as it would typically do in female breast reduction surgery.
